Herrera Wins All-Stars Finale
SAN FELIPE, NM – Johnny Herrera
started 10th Sunday night at Hollywood Hills Speedway in the
Haulmark All Star sprint
car X-1R 30 lap A main feature, and he won when race
leader Rickey Hood suffered misfortune. Hood was the race-long
leader, but stopped on the track when his fuel cell worked
loose, causing him to pit. This handed the lead to Bill Rose,
who was passed by Herrera for the win in the final event of the
All Star season.
Hood and Rose made up the front row
for the start of the $5,000 to win event, with the veteran Hood
rocketing into the lead over Rose. Herrera was very fast from
the drop of the green, and made his presence known early,
working up to fifth on lap five and fourth on lap six.
When a yellow was unfurled on lap
eight, Hood was on top over Rose, Danny Smith, a now third
Herrera and 2004 All Star Champion Chad Kemenah
Behind the leader it was a three way
battle for second when the green replaced the yellow among
Smith, Herrera and Kemenah. Dean Jacobs, who started fifth,
regained that spot by using the high groove on lap 11 and was
beginning to march toward the front.
Smith finally captured second, with
Herrera third and Jacobs up to fourth by lap 12.
Lap 17 was the undoing of the leader
when Hood brought out the yellow for stopping on the track. He
was then black flagged for his fuel cell is barely hanging on.
His crew was able to make quick repairs and he came back out
last for the restart.
The restart order was now Rose,
Smith, Herrera and Jacobs. A lap later Herrera moved past Smith
into second and began pressuring Rose. For two laps Herrera kept
the pressure up and finally on lap 20 Herrera went inside Rose
off turn two to lead. At this point “Neon” Dion Hindi was up
from 25th starting spot to sixth on the high groove, showing he
was the fastest
car on track.
Herrera was using both the high and
low grooves through the lapped cars with Rose and Jacobs
fighting for second behind him.
Lap 21 saw an unusual red for water
on the back stretch. Greg Wilson hit one of the cans full of
water used to block entrance gate to track, wetting down the
backstretch. Once the track was dry, the restart order was
Herrera, Rose, Smith, Jacobs, Justin Fisher and Hindi. On the
restart Herrera pulled away to a half straightaway advantage as
the action for second place was fast and furious. On lap 25
Jacobs went into second then Rose got him back, but then a lap
later it was Jacobs back in the runnerup spot. On lap 27 Rose
was back to second running side by side with Jacobs. He was able
to hold him off for that spot when the checkered flag fell.
The win was Herrera’s fifth career
All Star triumph, but the first since a 1995 Wilmot, WI win.
Rose’s second place was his best showing of the season, and
Jacobs was third over Smith and Fisher
The Crown Battery heat fell to Scott
Box, the B&B Products heat went to Greg Wilson, the Engler
Machine and Tool heat was won by Rickey Hood and the TP Wings

Wilson Wins at Las Cruces
LAS CRUSES, NM – It was win number
four on the season for Greg Wilson Saturday night at Southern
New Mexico Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car-SCOA
X-1R 30 lap A main feature. It was the first ever appearance by
the All Stars in the state of New Mexico and Wilson led the last
half of the race to win over Chad Kemenah and SCOA driver Justin
Fisher.
With Fisher and Jon Agan on the
front row for the start, Wilson was gridded fifth in the
Hampshire Racing, Barfield’s Gift Fruits Maxim. Fisher shot out
into the initial lead over Agan and Jeremy Campbell, with Wilson
taking third from Campbell on lap two. Kemenah kept the pressure
on Campbell, getting by the top All Star Rookie of the Year and
then passing Agan to begin pressuring Fisher. Kemenah seized the
opportunity on lap seven, taking the lead in heavy lapped
traffic.
At this point Wilson followed
Kemenah by Fisher to take over the runnerup spot, leaving Fisher
third ahead of Campbell and fast qualifier Danny Smith. Wilson
kept up the pressure as the leaders threaded their way through
lapped traffic. Kemenah bumped the inside berm of the track on
lap 15, slowing him just enough for Wilson to shoot by on the
outside and into the lead. Wilson pushed out his lead a bit, but
Kemenah reeled him in again in lapped traffic. Once in the clear
again Wilson stretched his advantage to a full straightaway.
Kemenah closed to within six
car lengths with five laps to go, but could get no
closer, having to settle for the runnerup position.
Fisher ran a steady race coming in
third ahead of Smith. Smith started sixth and was up to fourth
on lap 16. He was part of a nose to tail said by side battle for
fourth with Campbell, Johnny “Hollywood” Herrera and Agan the
entire final half of the race. Herrera ended fifth, followed by
Campbell, Agan, Dean Jacobs who started 11th, ageless Rickey
Hood and Tim Hunter. Paul may was the Fisher Performance hard
Charger of the race, coming home 11th after starting 24th.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Hood,
the B&B Products heat went to Wilson, the Engler Machine and

Kemenah Claims ASCoC Title in El
Paso
EL PASO, TX – Chad Kemenah put an
exclamation point on his championship season Friday night at El
Paso Speedway Park. His sixth Haulmark All Star sprint
car X-1R 30 lap A main feature win of the year locked up
his third straight All Star sprint championship. Danny Smith,
runnerup in the point standings, finished second in the event,
which was co-sanctioned by the SCOA sprints.
Rich Bubak was on the pole for the
start of the A main alongside Smith, with Phil Gressman and Bill
Rose in row two. Mike Wells flipped on the backstretch after
contact with Rickey Hood on the initial start, bringing out a
red flag. Following a complete restart Bubak jumped out into the
lead for the first four laps until another yellow came out for a
Robert Gomez spin. Bubak, third in SCOA points, still lead over
Smith, fifth starter Kemenah, Rose, Paul May, Dean Jacobs,
Gressman and Brock Mayes. Smith powered around the outside of
Bubak to snare the lead on lap five, but all eyes were on the
sixth starting Jacobs. As Smith took the lead, Jacobs went
around both Kemenah and a fading Bubak for second, and the chase
of Smith was on.
Jacobs kept reeling in the leader
and took over the top spot on lap eight. Kemenah then moved into
second, and a side by side battle with the leader ensued.
Kemenah finally came out on top after two laps of non-stop
action. May, who started eighth, was on the move also, up to
fourth by lap 10.
Smith regained his rhythm and
re-passed Jacobs for second with a low move on lap 13. May was
all over Jacobs for third and the Terre Haute, Indiana driver
executed a wheel banging pass of Jacobs on lap 15 for the show
position, with Jacobs losing several spots.
Ninth starting Greg Wilson moved to
fourth on lap 17, and got May for third on the outside groove a
lap later. Meanwhile, Kemenah had amassed a huge lead and could
not be touched.
With five laps remaining, following
another caution, the running order was Kemenah, Smith, Wilson,
Johnny Herrera, up from 12th starting spot, May, Bubak, Gressman
and seventh starter Brock Mayes. After the restart Herrera moved
to third past Wilson on the bottom groove of the 3/8 mile oval.
With the white flag unfurled, sixth place Bubak spun to avoid
another
car and brought out the final yellow of the event. This
set up a green, white, checkered finish to the race. Kemenah had
a two lapped car cushion over Smith and won going away by a
straightaway in the Harble Motorsports, Kistler-powered Eagle.
Herrera was the best finishing local driver in third over Wilson
and Mayes. Jeremy Campbell was the Fisher Performance Hard
Charger of the night, coming from 22nd to finish sixth at the
finish.
The Crown Battery heat fell to
Wilson, the B&B Products heat went to Campbell, the Engler

Campbell Gets First All-Star Win
at Eldora
ROSSBURG, OH – He has been knocking
on the door all season long. And Saturday night at Eldora
Speedway, Jeremy Campbell recorded his first career All Star win
in dominating fashion, winning the Haulmark All Star sprint
car X-1R 30 lap A main feature. The largest
car count of the season for a single day show was on
hand, a total of 53 sprint cars with All Star points leader Chad
Kemenah coming home second.
“The car felt so great. It’s the
first time in this new car since we destroyed one two weeks
ago,” Campbell related. “It’s awesome being up here in victory
lane at Eldora. There’s nothing else to compare this to in the
world,” he concluded as he thanked his crew chief Josh Forshee.
Campbell’s Maxim/Gaerte is supported by G-Force Racing Gear,
Penske Racing Shocks, Benic Enterprises and K&N Filters.
Campbell brought the field to the
green with Kasey Kahne alongside on the front row, with Butch
Schroeder and Rob Chaney in row two. Brandon Wimmer and Todd
Kane made up row three. Kahne got pinched into the backstretch
wall on lap one by Campbell and flipped wildly down the track.
Ron Blair then slid into the front end of Kahne’s stopped
machine but the NASCAR Nextel Cup star jumped out of his machine
without injury and headed to the airport to catch a flight back
to Talladega, AL.
Chaney rocketed out to a huge lead
when the green flew, and had a full straightaway lead when he
brushed wheels with the lapped car of Brock Mayes. The contact
flattened Chaney’s left rear tire, forcing him to stop on the
track and bring out a caution. Kane stopped pitside at this
point also, handing the lead to Campbell for the restart.
Campbell then built a nice lead over Kemenah, tenth starter Phil
Gressman, Wimmer, Greg Wilson and Jac Haudenschild by lap 13
when Dean Jacobs stopped the action again with a flat tire.
Haudenschild had started 11th and Wilson 13th.
Campbell continued to maintain his
lead, with Kemenah still running second. All eyes were on
Haudenschild, who took fifth on lap 19 from Wimmer and fourth on
lap 21. Haudenschild took third from Gressman on lap 25 and was
second behind Campbell, passing Kemenah on lap 26. On lap 27, Ed
Lynch Jr, who was running minus a front wing, spun on the
backstretch for another caution. At the same time Haudenschild
spun in turn four, ending up in the pits as he spun right into
the pit entrance.
For the final restart it was
Campbell ahead of Gressman and Kemenah, with Campbell pulling
out for a dominant high groove rim riding win. Kemenah got past
Gressman to finish second, with Gressman third and Hannagan
fourth. Hannagan started last when he stopped on the track
following his initial pushoff. Wilson was fifth followed by
Wimmer, Kerry Madsen, Rob Chaney, Kane and 21st starter Bill
Rose.
“Jeremy did a
good job,” runnerup Kemenah said. “We’ll take second
after starting seventh. In the big picture we’re trying to close
in on the points and make it three in a row.”
The Crown Battery heat fell to Brock
Mayes, the B&B Products heat went to Randy Hannagan, the Engler
Machine and Tool heat was won by Tim Engler and the TP Wings
heat fell to Rob Chaney. South Dakota driver Clint Garner won
the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main and Nick Naber won the
University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Kemenah captured the
Haulmark Dash and Kane was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier
over the 53 car field. Prior to the evening’s races, promoter
Earl Baltes was presented a plack from the All Stars honoring
his retirement and contribution to the All Stars. Baltes oversaw
116 All Star races at Eldora over the last 25 years.

Gressman Wins at Lawrenceburg
Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Lawrenceburg Speedway – Sat.
9/18/04 By Scott Hall
LAWRENCEBURG, IN – Phil Gressman picked up his first win of the
year Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway in the Haulmark All
Star sprint car X-1R 50 lap 22nd annual Hoosier Fall Classic.
The win for the Premier Pallets team owned by Pete Grove was
worth $12,000, the biggest payday for the series this season.
Gressman became the 19th different feature winner in 40 All Star
events this season.
“The last five or six races things have been coming together,”
Gressman said of his winning race team. “I have to thank Pete
Grove and Craig Stevens for believing in me, it’s been a long
summer for us and I can’t thank everyone enough. We’re just glad
to win a race.” Gressman also related he lost a wing adjuster
during the event, so he had to race with the setup he had.
With Dale Blaney, Bobby Clark, Jimmy Stinson, Tim Hunter, Jim
Nier and Dean Jacobs pacing the field for the start, Blaney took
the initial lead over Clark and Hunter. Jacobs moved into third
just before a collision between Jeremy Campbell and Dickie
Gaines resulted in Campbell ending up on his side on lap four.
Following the red, Blaney maintained the lead ahead of Clark and
Jacobs. Blaney jumped the cushion on lap 11, allowing Clark to
take over the top spot as Blaney came back on the track in
second, just ahead of Jacobs. But Blaney’s race ended on lap 14
when Jon Agan and Tom Busch got together right in front of him,
with Blaney unable to avoid the duo and ending up flipping.
Kinser rode over Blaney’s right rear in the melee and also went
pitside, dropping him from fourth place with a flat tire. Kinser
was able to restart at the tail.
Clark was able to hold off a hard charging Jacobs when the green
came back out, and Gressman, who started 11th began pressuring
Jacobs for the runnerup spot, taking it on lap 19. Jacobs and
Gressman continued their battle for second as Clark stretched
his lead a bit.
Lap 25 saw the lead trio three wide off turn four, with Gressman
taking the lead, which he would hold the rest of the race.
Jacobs kept up the pressure on the leader, and made a daring
slide job move for the lead on lap 46, but his momentum carried
him into the side of Gressman, which resulted in Jacobs spinning
the Webb Racing No. 51.
It was now a four lap dash to the end, with Gressman now ahead
of Reed, who started 12th, Clark and Kemenah. Gressman drove
away for the win, with Reed ending up second.
“The last couple of years we started to get this place figured
out,” Reed said after finishing second. “I got off the berm and
fell back to 14th and at most tracks you’d consider yourself
done but at this place you know if you have a good car you can
get back up in there.”
Behind Reed were Clark and Paul May who passed Kemenah for
fourth on the last lap. Kemenah, Huntley, Butch Schroeder,
Jacobs, Kinser and Danny Smith, who restarted last after a mid
race tire change completed the top ten.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Gressman, the B&B Products heat
went to Chad Kemenah, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won
by Paul May and the TP Wings heat fell to Dickie Gaines. Jared
Fox won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main and Jeremy Campbell
won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Dale Blaney
captured the Haulmark Dash and Jeremy Campbell was the Huggins
Cams Fast Time qualifier for the first time this season.

Blaney Best at Gas City
9-17-04 GAS CITY, Ind. -- It was a
dominating performance by Dale Blaney Friday night at Gas City
I-69 Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car X-1R 40 lap A
main feature. The first appearance by the series on the quarter
mile was run in front of a standing room only crowd for Blaney's
seventh win of the season in the Troyer Trail Bologna, Andrews
Motorsports, George Fisher Racing Engines Maxim. Kelly Kinser
was the runnerup with Paul May's brand new Maxim coming home
third.
"We had a really good starting spot and we could dictate where
we could run early. I knew traffic was going to be tough getting
through," Blaney related. "We haven't won in a couple of months,
so it feels pretty good.it's a good start to the weekend."
Blaney had
lady luck on his side as the three cautions provided him
with a clear track, with the last yellow with only six laps to
go especially beneficial.
For the start it was Blaney and May heading the field, followed
by Kinser, Phil Gressman, Danny Smith and Chad Kemenah. Blaney
grabbed the immediate lead at the drop of the green, with May
trailing in second. They maintained those positions through the
first caution with a dozen laps in the books. Kinser rode in
third with Gressman and Smith next. Blaney pulled away when the
green reappeared as May and Kinser put on a battle for second.
Kinser took second from May on lap 21, but May regained the spot
a circuit later.
With ten laps remaining, Kinser finally got past May for good,
and set his sights on Blaney. The bottom groove was coming in
now for Kinser, and he reeled in Blaney as the leader picked his
way through lapped traffic. Kinser was poised to make a move on
Blaney with 34 laps in the books, but debris on the track
surface caused the final caution of the night. Following the
restart, Kinser had nothing for Blaney, who ran away for the
win.
Kinser ended up second followed by May, Dean Jacobs and Gressman.
Smith was sixth ahead of eighth starter John Ivy, points leader
Kemenah, Fisher Performance Hard Charger Greg Wilson, up from
22nd starting spot, and Mark Keegan.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Jon Agan, the B&B Products heat
went to Jac Haudenschild, the Engler Machine and
heat was won by Mark Keegan and the TP Wings heat fell
to Tom Busch. Patrick Haynes won the last chance race and Terry
Pletch won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main. Dean Jacobs won
the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main and Phil Gressman
captured the Haulmark Dash. Kemenah was the Huggins Cams Fast
Time qualifier over the 50 car field.

Ivy Masters All-Stars at Fremont
Haulmark All Star
Sprint Results - Fremont Speedway - Sat. 9/11/04
By Brian Liskai
FREMONT, Ohio (Sept. 11, 2004) - John Ivy likes home cookin'.
The Fremont, Ohio driver and newly crowned Fremont Speedway 2004
Track Champion lead all 50 laps of the Baumann Auto Group
Haulmark Trailers All Star Circuit of Champions X-1R feature at
"The Track That Action Built" Saturday to score the biggest win
of his sprint
car racing career. Ivy utilized the track's Goodyear
right rear spec tire to claim the $10,000 victory in front of
the standing-room-only crowd.
"To do this in front of the home crowd is just awesome,"
exclaimed Ivy beside his Carousel Racing #20. "What a year we've
had...to win five races at Fremont, including two All Star shows
and take the track championship is unbelievable. Especially when
you consider we didn't even know if we had a ride at the
beginning of the year. I have to thank Sid and Beth Eickelberry...
they put this deal together five years ago for us and have stuck
by us even when times were tough."Ivy started on the pole in his
Joseph Wise Fine
Clocks, Sonny's Machine, Henry Motorcar sprinter, and
took the lead from the green. Last year's Fremont Speedway track
champion Byron Reed rode in second, with Dale Blaney third, Chad
Kemenah fourth, Dean Jacobs fifth, Danny Smith, sixth and Bobby
Clark seventh. The first caution flew on lap 8 for a stalled Tim
Hunter, just as Ivy was preparing to get into heavy lapped
traffic.
On the restart, Ivy utilized the clean track to build a seven
car advantage as the battle for second heated up between
Reed and Blaney. Blaney finally got around Reed on lap 12, and
closed on Ivy as the leader entered lapped track on lap 17. Two
laps later, Blaney pulled beside Ivy in turns one and two as the
capacity crowd roared their approval. It was all nullified
though when the yellow flew for Jon Agan who stalled on the
front stretch.
With 31 laps remaining, the running order was Ivy, Blaney, Reed,
Kemenah, Jacobs, Greg Wilson, Danny Smith, Bobby Clark, Brock
Mayes and 15th starting Mark Keegan.
On the restart, Kerry Madsen slid off of turn three to bring the
caution back out. When the green went back out, Ivy once again
used the clear track to build an advantage over Blaney and Reed,
as Jacobs went around Kemenah for fourth on lap 21. The final
caution flew on lap 25 when the muffler on Keegan's mount fell
off onto the racing surface. At that point, all eyes were on
"The Wild Child" Jac Haudenschild who started 23rd and was up to
10th.
On the restart, Ivy seemed to find a lot more speed and pulled
away from Blaney. Ivy picked his way through lapped traffic as
the real battle on the track was for sixth between the white
cars of Greg Wilson, Danny Smith, Bobby Clark and Brock Mayes.
At the checkered, Ivy won by six car lengths over Blaney, Dean
Jacobs, Kemenah, Wilson, Reed, Smith, Mayes, Clark and
Haudenschild.
"I saw Guy (Meyers, crew chief) tell me to move up and I went up
half a groove about half way through and the car got a lot
better," said Ivy of his winning move.
Blaney, who won the Haulmark Trailers Dash, said his Andrews
Motorsports #72 was good, but he didn't have anything for Ivy.
"Give John
credit, he goes very good here. I enjoy racing at
Fremont, the track is always racey and the fans are great. We
had a good car, but just not good enough to get by John," said
Blaney beside his Troyer's Trail Bologna sprinter.
"A third here is like a win for us. I don't usually run that
well at Fremont," said Jacobs beside his Webb Racing #51. "Guy
put this
new car together for us after Thunder through the Plains
and we've been very good in it. We've had like five second place
finishes in it since then."
Kemenah started the evening by besting the 46-car field in
Huggins Cams Qualifying, earning a $200
bonus from the Baumann Auto Group. Agan won the Crown
Battery heat, with Todd Heller picking up the win in the B&B
Oval Track Products heat. Mike Linder, who finished second in
the Fremont Speedway point standings, won the Engler Machine &
Tool heat, with Kelly Kinser taking the victory in the TP Wings
heat. John Wisbon came out of
retirement to score the victory in the Outerwears C-Main, with
Wilson taking the checkered in the University of Northwest Ohio
B-Main.
Jamie Miller took the lead from Brad Bowman a quarter of the way
into the 25-lap 305 sprint feature and dominated to the end to
take the win, his second of the season at Fremont. A great
battle for second came down to the final straight, with Scott
Kraylek taking the runner-up position and current point leader
Brian Smith coming home third.

Wilson Wins All-Stars Macon
Feature
MACON, IL – Greg Wilson, in the
familiar Bob Hampshire No. 63, recorded win number three
Friday night at Macon Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint
car X-1R 40 lap A main feature. The All Stars returned
to the 1/5 mile oval for their first appearance since 1996
with Wilson’s win coming over Dean Jacobs and Chad Kemenah.
A.J. Bruns and Wilson brought the
field to the green, followed by Danny Smith, Jerrod Hull,
Jacobs and Kemenah. Bruns took the early lead, just ahead of
Wilson, Smith and Hull as the sprinters navigated the tight
confines of the Macon oval. Lap four saw the first caution for
Bill Rose and Jon Agan. Bruns led again when action resumed,
with Wilson making a move on the leader as they entered lapped
traffic. Wilson’s move was negated by another Rose spin on lap
seven. Bruns stretched his lead following the restart, with
Wilson still second and Hull third. Bruns bobbled on lap 12
and Wilson was right on his bumper, but another caution saved
Bruns again. Phil Gressman, running seventh, stopped on the
track at this point. His
car would not refire, eliminating him from the race.
Bruns led again, with Wilson
breathing down his neck. Wilson kept up constant pressure in
lapped traffic, and he was able to slip by the leader to lead
lap 19. Hull also got past Bruns, with Bruns’ fine run at the
front of the field ending when he had to hit the brakes to
avoid the lapped car of Terry Babb who got sideways right in
front of him. Bruns was able to restart at the tail of the
pack as did Hull, who also stopped on the track. Wilson and
Jacobs now led the field back to the green, with Wilson racing
ahead of Jacobs through lapped traffic. Smith and Madsen both
drove around Kemenah on lap 28, placing Smith third behind
Wilson and Jacobs. Madsen kept the pressure on Smith, and
tried to dive under the veteran on lap 30. Madsen bumped Smith
in the process, with Smith getting sideways and tipping over
on his side. This brought out another yellow flag, which
eventually became a red flag fuel stop.
With just ten laps to go, it was
Wilson ahead of Jacobs, Kemenah and local driver Jimmy Hurley
who moved all the way up from 18th starting spot. Another
caution allowed Jacobs to restart right on the back bumper of
Wilson with only six laps remaining. Jacobs had one shot at
the win right after the restart, trying a slide job under
Wilson in turn three and again entering turn one a lap later,
but Wilson had enough momentum to retain the lead, going on
for victory number three on the season. Jacobs was second for
the fourth consecutive race in the Webb Racing No. 51,
followed by Kemenah, Hurley and 11th starter Tom Busch.
The Crown Battery heat fell to
Jeremy Campbell, the B&B Products heat went to Paul May, the
Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Hurley and the TP
Wings heat fell to Tom Busch. Jim Moughan won the University
of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Wilson captured the Haulmark Dash
and Kemenah was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier atop the
34 car field with a new track record of 9.399 seconds,
snapping Gus Wasson’s 9.750 second mark set in 1996.
The All Stars head to Fremont (OH)

Shepard Wins Sharon Nationals
HARTFORD, OH – It was all the Jeff
Shepard show Sunday night at Sharon Speedway in the Haulmark All
Star sprint car X-1R 40 lap Sharon Nationals feature. Shepard
became the 15th different winner in 24 runnings of the annual
Sharon Nationals as he led every lap and won by a full
straightaway over Dean Jacobs, who finished second for the third
race in a row.
“My guys made a great decision on tires tonight. We missed on
them a little bit last night,” Shepard said in victory lane.
“When I was in clean air and there wasn’t a bunch of cars in
front of me I could see the cushion and hold my elbows in and
keep the thing straight.” He concluded by stating, “We’ve had an
awesome record. This car’s only been on the track six times and
we’ve done real well with it (three wins).” His team is helped
out by Cat Construction, York Co. Excavating, Pro-shocks,
Hoosier Tires, Weld Wheels, JEI Chassis and Kriner Engines.
Shepard’s Barry Jackson JEI No. 8 and Bill Rose’s own No. 6 made
up the front row for the start, followed by Chad Kemenah in the
Harble Motorsports Eagle and Greg Wilson’s Hampshire No. 63 in
row two. Row three was made up of Jimmy Weller and Jacobs in the
Webb Racing No. 51. Shepard jetted out into the initial lead,
running ahead of Wilson and Rose through the first caution on
lap three for a Dale Blaney spin. Shepard kept up his torrid
pace as the laps flew by, with Wilson in second, followed by a
duel for third between Kemenah and Jacobs as Rose faded to
sixth. Jacobs finally was able to get by Kemenah and secure
third on lap 12, but a red flew on lap 13 when Mark Keegan blew
a right rear tire and Blaney rode over Keegan’s machine and
tagged the turn one guardrail hard, flipping violently. Blaney
emerged from the wreck uninjured. Keegan was also eliminated
from the event.
Shepard led Wilson and Jacobs when the green reappeared, and
built another full straightaway lead before entering lapped
traffic. By the halfway mark of the event, Kelly Kinser was on
the move, up to eighth in the patented low groove of the
speedway. As Shepard got back into lapped traffic, Jacobs began
reeling in Wilson. Jacobs and Wilson were nose to tail and after
another lap of side by side racing Jacobs dove under Wilson
exiting turn four to get second on lap 28. With five laps
remaining, the order was Shepard, Jacobs, Wilson, Kemenah, Kenny
Jacobs, Rose and Kinser when a caution appeared for a Jeremy
Campbell flat tire. Shepard, however, was able to jet out to
another big lead when the green flew for the final time, winning
easily over Jacobs.
“I have a super race car,” Jacobs said after finishing second.
“We put this new car together and I didn’t need that last
yellow, the tire sealed up and with lapped traffic I might have
had a shot,” Jacobs concluded.
Wilson ended up third ahead of Kemenah, and a late charging
Kinser. K. Jacobs ended up sixth ahead of Ed Lynch Jr. who
started 11th. Rose ended up eighth ahead of Nick Naber (up from
16th) and Danny Smith.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Mark Keegan, the B&B Products
heat went to Jarod Larson, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was
won by Jon Agan and the TP Wings heat fell to Kevin Nouse. Track
champion Kevin Schaeffer won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main
and Danny Smith won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main.
Kelly Kinser captured the Haulmark Dash and Dean Jacobs was the
Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier.
In the 15 lap Green Flag sprint feature, Guy Griffin defeated
Doug Kekich, Jim Weller Jr., Skip Dougherty, Goob Schuler and
Jimmy Weller III.

Clark Pulls Off
Upset Win to Open Sharon Nationals
HARTFORD, Ohio – A jubilant Bobby
Clark thrust both fists into the air, gave out a huge yell and
received high fives from his crew after the feature Saturday
night at Sharon Speedway. Clark was a surprise winner in the
Haulmark All Star sprint car X-1R 30 lap A main feature. The
event served as opening night for the 24th annual Sharon
Nationals and it was the Fremont, Ohio driver’s first career All
Star win.
“I hit the wall early on and though I hurt the right rear, but
luckily it was all right. I owe this win to my crew. Andy Potter
has the car set up just right. Coming here I would have just
been happy with a top five tonight. This is great after getting
third here during Ohio Speedweek,” the driver of the KOT
Trucking, J&J Chassis concluded. Clark had started eighth, and
led only the final two circuits for the win over Dean Jacobs.
Chad Kemenah and Jeff Shepard made up the front row for the
start of the feature, followed by Greg Wilson and Jacobs in row
two, with Brock Mayes and Kenny Jacobs next. Kemenah shot out
into an immediate lead when the green flew, with Shepard and D.
Jacobs tucking in behind. Kemenah rode Sharon’s inside groove on
the slick and black track surface. Meanwhile, K. Jacobs and
Wilson were battling for fourth. Kemenah had stretched out his
advantage to a full straightaway as Shepard held off D. Jacobs.
With ten laps in the books, Shepard began closing in on Kemenah
and Jim Nier’s flat tire on lap 13 put Shepard right on the back
pushbar of Kemenah.
Shepard tried a high groove move off turn two to gain the lead
and ended up ahead at the conclusion of lap 15. Following
another caution, on the restart Dean Jacobs rode high around
Kemenah for second and dove low under Shepard coming off turn
four to take the lead. It looked like Jacobs would run away for
the win, but Clark was now on the move. Lap 19 saw Clark move
past Kemenah into third and he began catching Shepard. By lap 21
Clark was in second and the leader Jacobs was entering lapped
traffic. Jacobs rode the low groove, as Clark utilized the top.
Clark was reeling in the leader, and Lap 27 saw the top two side
by side with Jacobs ahead by only a wheel. Clark gained the lead
exiting turn two and once on top, he rocketed away from Jacobs.
At the end it was Clark over Jacobs, Shepard and Kemenah. John
Ivy was next ahead of Dale Blaney, who came from 15th starting
spot, K. Jacobs, Danny Smith and Phil Gressman.
The B&B Products heat went to Jarod Larson, the Engler Machine
and Tool heat was won by Kemenah and the TP Wings heat fell to
Jeremy Campbell. Paul May won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main
and John Ivy won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main.
Kenny Jacobs was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier and won
the Crown Battery heat.

Jeff Shepard Wins at Lernerville
Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Lernerville Speedway – Fri.
9/3/04 By Scott Hall
SARVER, PA – Jeff Shepard scored a dominant victory Friday night
at Lernerville Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint
car X-1R 35 lap A main feature. His second win in the
Earl and David Bauman Memorial race paid $6,000 to win, courtesy
of race sponsor Commercial Truck & Trailer. It was also
Shepard’s second All Star win of the season. Driving the Barry
Jackson owned, Kriner powered JEI Chassis No. 8, he recorded the
win in wire to wire fashion. Shepard also survived a close call
in the heat race when he ran out of fuel on the last lap, but he
coasted home fourth, with the finish good enough to transfer him
to the A main, from which he started on the front row.
“I didn’t feel any pressure. I didn’t know how close anyone was
to me,” Shepard stated after the win. “I could see the
scoreboard and I knew the guys behind me were good racers. I
just did everything I could to keep from making mistakes. I
almost ran into Jeremy Campbell over there,” he concluded, as he
recalled his finish over Dean Jacobs, Dale Blaney and Kenny
Jacobs.
Blaney and Shepard made up the front row for the start of the A
main. Following a false start when Cameron Dodson got a flat
tire, Shepard jumped out to a big lead over D. Jacobs and Blaney.
It only took Shepard seven laps to catch the tail end of the
field and begin lapping cars. Blaney was now third ahead of K.
Jacobs and Chad Kemenah. Blaney began pressuring D. Jacobs for
second, and finally took the spot on lap 13. As the laps clicked
off, Jacobs reeled Blaney in as they lapped cars, with D. Jacobs
retaking second in traffic on lap 23. The first caution flew on
lap 25 for Byron Reed’s spin, allowing Shepard to free himself
from lapped traffic.
After the restart, Shepard pulled away from D. Jacobs, with
Blaney holding off K. Jacobs for third. Tenth starting Greg
Wilson was now fifth and began challenging K. Jacobs for the
fourth position, but he could never get by.
Shepard stretched his lead until the checkered flew, with D.
Jacobs finishing a full straightaway behind.
“About the middle of the race I though a tire was flat,” Jacobs
said after finishing second. “But the right rear shock fell off
and that didn’t help us a whole lot.” His runnerup finish came
in Guy Webb’s No. 51.
Blaney was third ahead of K. Jacobs and Wilson. Kemenah crossed
the line sixth, followed by Danny Smith (who started 12th), Ed
Lynch Jr, Jim Nier and 14th starter Kelly Kinser.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Jon Agan, the B&B Products heat
went to Bill Rose, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by
Dean Jacobs and the TP Wings heat fell to Byron Reed. Andy
McKisson won the Outerwears Pre-filters C Main and Kelly Kinser
won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Greg Wilson
captured the Haulmark Dash and Kemenah was the Huggins Cams Fast
Time qualifier.

Shane Stewart Jets to Victory
Lane at Jetmore
By Scott Hall
JETMORE, Kans. - Shane Stewart
became the 16th winner in 32 events on the All Star tour this
season Saturday night at Jetmore Motoplex. Stewart's fourth
career win came in the Haulmark All Star sprint car-NCRA Thunder
Through the Plains X-1R 30 lap A main by 10 car lengths over All
Star points leader Chad Kemenah.
Jeremy Campbell and Daron Clayton made up the front row for the
main, followed by Brock Mayes, Stewart, Brooke Tatnell and
Kemenah. Clayton led the first two go-rounds until Stewart dove
low to lead the third lap in the mIn Motorsports Management No.
4m Maxim Chassis.
Stewart had a cushion of one lapped car between himself and
Clayton following a lap seven restart when Paul May and Phil
Gressman stopped on the track. Stewart motored away from Clayton
on the restart as Kemenah challenged Campbell for third. Kemenah,
using the low groove, snared third on lap eight and was
challenging Clayton for second a lap later. Stewart was into
heavy lapped traffic by the halfway point of the event, followed
by Clayton, Kemenah and Tatnell. Kemenah finally dove under
Clayton for second on lap 16, but Stewart had amassed a big
lead. Tatnell moved into third with ten laps to go, and began
challenging Kemenah. As Stewart got back into heavy lapped
traffic, Kemenah and Tatnell both closed in on the leader.
Kemenah reeled in the Oklahoma driver, and utilized the low
groove while Stewart took the high side. Kemenah was ready to
attempt a pass for the lead with only four laps remaining, but a
Rich Bubak spin brought out a yellow flag. Following another
yellow it was a three lap dash to the finish, but Stewart, in
the high groove, held off the low running Kemenah for the win.
Tatnell, who desperately tried to pass Kemenah on the high
groove, settled for third ahead of a great run by Clayton.
Whitney was fifth after starting seventh, coming home ahead of
Jason Johnson, Campbell, Dean Jacobs, up from 14th starting
spot, Danny Smith and the Fisher Performance Hard Charger,
moving up 10 spots, Tony Bruce Jr.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Mike Woodruff, the B&B Products
heat went to hometown driver Steve King, the Engler Machine and
Tool heat was won by Bubak and the TP Wings heat fell to Brooke
Tatnell. Travis Whitney won the University of Northwestern Ohio
B Main. Campbell captured the Haulmark Dash and Kemenah was the
Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier with a new track record of
12.533 seconds. Mike Lutz flipped in the first heat after
clipping the infield berm. He was not injured.

Kemenah Wins at Wichita
Haulmark All Star
Sprint Results - 81 Speedway - Fri. 8/20/04
By Scott Hall
WICHITA, KS - It was the fifth win of the season for Chad
Kemenah Friday night at 81 Speedway in the Haulmark All Star
sprint car-NCRA Thunder Through the Plains 30 lap X-1R feature.
Kemenah lost the lead to Shane Stewart on lap 23, but battled
back to get under the Oklahoma driver as the white flag was
unfurled and he narrowly edged Stewart at the finish.
By virtue of his sixth fastest quaifying time, Kemenah
started on the pole in the Harble Racing Eagle-Kistler, with
Danny Smith alongside. Jason Johnson and Stewart's mIn
Motorsports Rudeen Racing 4m gridded in row two with Gary Lee
Maier and Travis Whitney starting from row three. Smith grabbed
the opening lead from Kemenah, with Stewart third and Maier
fourth. On the second circuit, Maier tried to dive under Stewart
for third, but Stewart slammed the door on Maier, with Maier
spinning to bring out a caution flag. Kemenah kept the pressure
on Smith following the restart. Smith and Kemenah were
side-by-side on lap three, with Kemenah nosing under the 30 year
racing veteran coming off turn four to lead lap four. Bill Rose
flipped right in front of Kemenah on lap nine, bringing out a
red flag. Kemenah, Smith and Stewart were able to avoid the Rose
mount and luckily Rose was uninjured.
For the restart Kemenah led Smith, Stewart, Johnson, Jeremy
Campbell, Daron Clayton and Mike Lutz who started 12th. Kemenah
pulled away from the battle between Smith and Stewart for
second. Stewart dove under Smith to grab the runnerup spot as
Kemenah continued to stretch his advantage. Campbell began
challenging Smith for third as the leaders entered heavy lapped
traffic. Jason Martin was also on the move. He started 16th and
was up to seventh by the halfway mark of the event.
Campbell and Smith were still battling for third behind
Kemenah and Stewart on lap 21 when another yellow was thrown for
the stalled machine of Tony Bruce Jr.
This stoppage erased Kemenah's huge advantage. Stewart lined
up right on Kemenah's back bumper for the restart. Kemenah used
the low groove and Stewart stayed on top following the restart,
and Stewart powered around the All Star points leader to take
command on lap 23. Stewart pulled out to a four
car length lead, but then his machine began getting
loose, allowing Kemenah to close right back in. The pair were
nose to tail on lap 27. Kemenah kept the pressure on and seized
the opportunity to make the winning pass on lap 28 when Stewart
got loose again. Kemenah dove low and grabbed the lead coming
off turn four to seal the win.
Stewart was a disappointed second, with Smith holding on to
third and Johnson fourth. Defending ESS champion Lutz was an
impressive fifth ahead of Berryhill, Jeremy Campbell, 15th
starting Dean Jacobs, Martin and Maier.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Daron Clayton, the B&B
Products heat went to Greg Wilson, the Engler Machine and Tool
heat was won by Dean Jacobs and the TP Wings heat fell to Brooke
Tatnell. Aaron Berryhill won the University of Northwestern Ohio
B Main and Wilson also captured the Haulmark Dash. Travis
Whitney was the Huggins Cams Fast Time qualifier with a new
track record of 13.207 seconds, snapping the 13.544 standard set
by Kenny Jacobs in 2001.

Just like the night before at Junction Motor Speedway, Johnson

series win of the season.
Johnson broke from a three
car pack in turn two to lead the first lap over Terry
McCarl and Garry Lee Maier. Maier and Chad Kemenah battled for
third with Kemenah taking over on lap 10. Meanwhile McCarl was
closing on Johnson and pulled up on his rear bumper with five
laps remaining. However Johnson held his line to win over McCarl
with All Star points leader Kemenah a close third. Brooke
Tatnell worked his way into fourth and Maier dropped to fifth.
Danny Smith, Paul May, Dean Jacobs, Jeremy Campbell and Travis
Whitney completed the top ten finishers.
Action was slowed several times, on lap seven for Greg Wilson
and Aaron Berryhill and again on lap 13 for a stalled Jon Agan,
but Johnson was able to motor away from the pack on each
restart.

Shepard Wins at Butler
Haulmark All Star Sprint Results -
Butler Motor Speedway - Sat. 8/7/04 By Scott Hall
QUINCY, MI - It was a Cinderella story Saturday night at
Butler Motor Speedway. Jeff Shepard, subbing for Bill Rose, who
was racing at Eldora Speedway, passed Danny Smith to win the
Haulmark All Star sprint car 30 lap feature. The event was run
in front of a capacity crowd and it was Shepard's first win of
2004.
"Bill Rose called me and asked me to do him a favor on my way
to Knoxville, to keep up his All Star owner points," Shepard
stated. "I was just out there trying to knock the rust off," he
said after one of the few races he has driven in this season.
"We would have been satisfied with a top three finish, but to
win this thing is amazing. I just paced myself until it was time
to stand up in the seat at the end."
Danny Smith and Chad Blonde brought the field down for the
green flag with Smith leading over Blonde and third starting
Shepard. Shepard, who used the lower groove of the speedway,
began pressuring Blonde, and they were side by side several
times before Shepard took over second on lap 10.
Smith kept command through several caution flag periods, and
following a lap 17 restart Shepard kept Smith right in his
sights. Smith rode Butler's high groove and Shepard was good on
the bottom of the racetrack. Shepard kept cutting into Smith's
lead and took over the top spot with a low move off turn four on
lap 22. From that point on, he pulled away from Smith for an
easy win in the No. 6 Eagle Chassis.
Smith began fading, losing second to Kemenah on lap 27. All
Star points leader Kemenah ended up second with Jeremy Campbell
third and Smith ending up fourth. Greg Wilson started ninth and
was up to fifth by the halfway point. He ended up fifth ahead of
Ken Mackey. Mackey was running sixth on lap 17 when he executed
a 360 degree spin, dropping him back to eighth. But Mackey
fought back to sixth at the end. Byron Reed, in his first career
Butler appearance, started 16th and ended up seventh, ahead of
Brock Mayes, Blonde and Tim Hunter.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Greg Wilson, the B&B Products
heat went to Ben Rutan, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won
by Ronnie Beale and the TP Wings heat fell to Byron Reed. Paul
May won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Smith
captured the Haulmark Dash and Chad Kemenah was the Huggins Cams

Hannagan Wins at Eldora
Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – Eldora Speedway – Thu. 8/5/04
By Scott Hall
ROSSBURG, OH – Mr. Natural Disaster, the “Hurricane” Randy
Hannagan blew into victory lane Thursday night at Eldora
Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 30 lap feature. It
was his second series win of the season, both coming here at
Eldora. Hannagan, in the THR Hurricane Chassis with Gaerte
power, defeated Danny Smith by one car length at the finish
line.
“This place is one of my favorites and this is a good way to
start out the week of money,” Hannagan related. “I love racing
Danny Smith. I’ve watched that guy race when I was a little kid,
from the time I was in diapers. He’s a good clean competitor and
the All Stars are great to race with. I also have to thank
Gaerte Engines who got me a fresh engine tonight and it shows,”
Hannagan concluded.
Hannagan and Smith set the pace for the start with Smith
powering around Hannagan to take the lead in the high groove.
Smith led Hannagan, Rob Chaney, Jeremy Campbell, Greg Hodnett
and Jason Meyers when Kyle Stuchell hit the wall on lap five,
bringing out a red flag. Smith and Hannagan raced ahead of
Chaney following the restart, with Hodnett applying heavy
pressure to Chaney. Hodnett grabbed third with ten laps in the
books as Smith ran the high groove and Hannagan rode the inside
groove.
Hannagan dove under Smith on the frontstretch on lap 13 to
emerge with the lead on lap 14. Hodnett was still third,
followed by Chaney and Meyers. Chaney suffered a mechanical
failure while in turn three on lap 20, and Meyers hit the wall
avoiding him. This brought out another caution. Kemenah suffered
a flat at this point, dropping him from fourth to the tail for
the restart.
Hannagan resumed the lead when the green reappeared, and began
pulling away from Smith. Hodnett trailed in third with Daryn
Pittman passing Jeremy Campbell for fourth following the
restart. But the story of the last ten circuits was Kemenah, who
was like a rocket from the back of the pack with a new right
rear tire. Kemenah was sixth by lap 25, and up to fifth at the
finish.
Hannagan got hung up behind a lapped car on the last lap,
allowing Smith to close in on him, but he had enough momentum
coming off turn four for the checkered flag, winning by a car
length.
Smith was second, followed by Hodnett, Pittman and Kemenah.
Campbell held on for sixth ahead of 13th starter Dale Blaney,
18th starting Dean Jacobs, Butch Schroeder and 24th starting Jim
Nier.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Bill Rose, the B&B Products heat
went to Jimmy Stinson, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won
by Dean Jacobs and the TP Wings heat fell to Rob Chaney. Greg
Wilson won the
University of Northwestern Ohio B Main. Hannagan captured
the Haulmark Dash and Greg Hodnett was the Huggins Cams Fast
Time qualifier.

Kemenah Gets All-Stars Canadian
Cash
Haulmark All Star Sprint Results – South Buxton Raceway – Sun.
8/1/04 By Scott Hall
MERLIN, ON, CN – Chad Kemenah stretched out his points lead
Sunday night at South Buxton Raceway with a win in the Haulmark
All Star sprint
car 30 lap feature. It was the first visit by the series
to a track outside of the United States. Kemenah started sixth
and led the final ten circuits en route to the win.
“It’s great to be in Canada, Isn’t it?” Kemenah asked after the
win. “We were hoping the track would come in better for us
halfway through the race. You really have to hit your marks at
this place or somebody is probably going to get by you,” Kemenah
said of the unique track D shape. His win came in the familiar
Jim Harble owned Kistler powered Eagle Chassis.
“This is a neat place,” runnerup Greg Wilson stated. “It got
racy near the end of the feature.”
Jeremy Campbell and Tim Hunter led the field to the green flag,
with Campbell jumping out to a strong lead over Phil Gressman.
Gressman met with disaster on lap seven when he ran up on a
lapped
car and turned sideways, tipping over on the back
stretch. The red was thrown to clean up Gressman’s incident. He
was able to restart. This put Kemenah in second behind Campbell,
with Tim Hunter third. Campbell led through two more restarts
and by lap 10 the order was Campbell, Kemenah, Hunter, Greg
Wilson, Dean Jacobs, Danny Smith, Bill Rose and Paul May, who
started 15th.
Wilson got past Hunter for third and began putting pressure on
Kemenah. Lap 17 saw Kemenah dive low under Campbell, but
Campbell kept control at the stripe, and a lap later the lead
duo were nose to tail. Kemenah drove around Campbell to lead lap
20, and from then on he pushed out to a big lead on the 3/8 mile
oval. Wilson went into second around Campbell on lap 27, with
Campbell third, Jacobs fourth and Hunter now fifth.
A tangle between Barry Ruble and eighth place Brock Mayes
brought out the caution on lap 28, which became a red flag fuel
stop due to excessive caution laps.
Kemenah led the final two circuits for his fourth win of the
season. Wilson ended up second with Campbell third and Jacobs
fourth. Hunter held on for fifth with Danny Smith sixth followed
by Paul may, Bill Rose, Gressman and the 360 powered machine of
Keith Dempster.
The Crown Battery heat fell to Kyle Patrick, the B&B Products
